LFW

I don't know where else to post this as my friends follow me on tumblr and I'm not sure who I can/should tell yet, but I just received an email saying I am in fact going to London Fashion Week, backstage!

Fake

I've seen plenty of girls wearing home-made Chanel tees, and thought I'd give it a go. Actually me and my friend Polly made them together. I toyed with putting writing on it but decided on the simple crossed Cs. I bought the tee from Zara mens; it's a size L and absolutely massive because I love baggy tees. Poll's short so she wears hers as a dress but I am too tall for that! I usually team it with a body-con skirt underneath.

Just as I'd finished it I came across a crossed Cs template on the internet, posted by Audrey Kitching I think, pretty gutted I didn't see that before as mine are very wonky!

goodbye england (covered in snow)

It has snowed a LOT in the past few days here, so my outfits have mostly been big jumpers and leggings as I'm staying inside in the warm! But I went to make a snowman with my friend on Friday and had to find something half-suitable for outdoor weather. Not sure I got it right but felt the need to make an outfit post anyway.

My docs are really the only appropriate shoes I own for snow weather other than my hunters.

christopher kane for topshop croc dress, m&s black jumper, vivienne westwood black scarf, mum's vintage 30s hacking jacket, doc martens from ebay, old found chain necklace.

Babbling

I'm currently in my last year of A levels, taking Philosophy, English lit, General Studies and Art, but obviously Art is my most relevant subject to this blog. I thought someone might be interested in my final AS piece.

It took a while, but the actual realisation of my plan was a success, which is unusual for me. We get given I think 10 hours in the exam, and you have no idea how long it takes to fold paper. Also I stapled the paper onto the fabric underneath, and at one point I had to run into town to buy a new stapler and my one broke. It was a stressful exam!

This was my AS level last summer; I've just done my A level mock and it was okkk. I'm trying to incorporate a more Rodarte theme into my work now, not sure how well it's worked out. I might post a few pictures of that later on.

Going gaga for Gareth

So Lady GaGa was on X Factor this Sunday, but I didn't watch it as I was out, and I'm not enthusiastic about keeping up to date with it after John and Edward left anyway. But then I heard she wore Gareth Pugh. I have been waiting for this for so long, and she wore a great piece. Spring 2007 was a great collection and Gaga rocked it. I have no idea how I feel about Lady Gaga because she is either insane or a freak or totally completely pretentious, but Gareth Pugh can convert me to anyone.

edit: and I somehow missed out on Beyonce's 'Diva' video, where she wears so much Gareth Pugh. I really love how mainstream artists are really embracing fashion at the moment. Kylie wore Gareth, Beyonce wore Gareth at some event ages ago, Gaga's wearing him..I'm so happy.

DIY

So I posted a few days ago that I wanted to stud a shirt collar. And I did! On Sunday actually. I wore it on Tuesday and took a couple of snaps but I take a while with these things. Anyway here is the result.

Due to lack of funds I used one of my mum's old shirts rather than buy a new one, and it's a little big, but I chopped off and rolled the sleeves, and I like the oversized look anyway.

In an homage to The Sartorialist I wore the shirt with a jumper, but it didn't work quite as well. I discovered I didn't have any round neck jumpers, except this illustrated people one which has a big neck, but I wore my hair down to cover the space [one of the advantages of long long hair].

hero

"what's the idea behind the garment you're making?"
"Imagine a pork loin wrapped up in string and you're half way there- mixed up with a little siren too."

have I mentioned how much I love Gareth Pugh?
